Top 5: Red Lipsticks

Now that the Christmas decorations are out in full swing, I thought it would be appropriate to round up my favorite red lipsticks.  While red lipstick is a classic year round, it's especially perfect for this time of year.

I have a variety of shades and finishes here, so you're sure to find something that's perfect for you.

1. YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats in #205 - Prune Virgin.  This was one of my first YSL makeup purchases a couple of years ago, and I always go back to this deep burgundy red lipstick.  It's a matte finish, but still very creamy and comfortable on the lips.  Plus, it's very long-lasting.  I like that this is a dark color, but it's not too gothic.

2. Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in #01 Always Red.  This red liquid lipstick is a cult classic for a reason.  It's a bright true red lipstick that dries matte and will seriously last all day.  I love that you don't have to worry about this migrating after a couple of hours, and it's such a glamorous color.  Check it out in action in my Glam Red Lipstick Tutorial.

3. NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte.  The "Audacious" formula is one of the best that I've tried.  It's so creamy and opaque.  Charlotte is a blue-based red that is just deep enough to be quite sophisticated.  I love this lipstick and it's probably my favorite of the bunch.

4. Rimmel London Lasting Finish By Kate Lipstick in #107.  I mentioned this line of lipsticks in my Best Of: Drugstore Skincare & Makeup post.  This is a very pretty berry red.  The pinkish tone makes this perfect for everyday.  Plus, the formula is very comfortable on the lips.

5. MAC Viva Glam Rihanna.  This is the most unique shade because it's red with red shimmer.  It may sound like a bit too much, but it's actually a gorgeous shade that is very fun and flirty.  It's not available at MAC any longer, but Thin Lizzy by Kat Von D is very similar.  I'll also link similar shades in the widget below.
