week in review - desk

the search continues

I'm still on the job hunt grind and it's been full of ups and downs.  I definitely feel like I've got some momentum going, and I'm learning more about what I'm looking for in my next job, which is really great.  However, the thing about looking for a job is that you hear "No" until you hear "Yes," which is not so great.  I have some interviews lined up in the coming weeks, so here's hoping that I find the place that's right for me soon!

the side hustle

For the past year or so, I've toyed with the idea of starting my own business.  The idea of having control over my schedule and work environment has become increasingly appealing, but I've always been terrified of the uncertainty and unpredictability that can accompany such freedom.  That being said, this thought has kept circulating in my head: "You don't find your dream job, you create it."  The more I think about it, the more I think it's true.  I'm not giving up my job search or swearing off of the corporate life, but I'm thinking more and more about how I can bring more self-determination into my professional life in order to truly create the life that I want to live.

let's just skip this part

And with that, I'll leave you with something that struck me this week...

everybody-has-a-chapter

In transition periods it's easy to get discouraged because the finish line seems so far, but everyone has periods in life that aren't glamorous or fun or exciting.  Just because you don't hear that part of a person's story, doesn't mean it didn't happen, they just don't read it out loud.
