Ultra Violet Inspiration
I thought it was pretty interesting that Pantone named ultra violet as the 2018 color of the year. Pantone is a company that's all about color, and it has a numbering system that people in tons of different industries use to describe color. Because we all know that my "sky blue" might be your "aquamarine" and so on. Because their business is all about color, each year they designate a "Color of the Year" based on trends they see in design, fashion, beauty, interiors, etc. For 2018 it's ultra violet. When I first heard about the color that was selected, I was a little puzzled because ultra violet really isn't a color I see too often. However, soon enough I started to see this shade (and variations) popping up more and more. So I thought it would be fun to create an inspiration board and highlight my picks for how to infuse a little ultra violet into your life.To be honest, I didn't think such a bold color would surface in the beauty world because it seems like a hard color to wear, but it's actually a stunning shade. Leave it to ColourPop to come through with all kinds of ultra violet goodness (speaking of ColourPop, have you checked out my review of Lux Lipsticks?):[one_half][/one_half][one_half_last]
Here's ColourPop's Super Star Loose Shadow in Badlands, which is a sparkly shade that's surprisingly wearable (it's on the model in the collage above).

Super Shock Cheek in Rain is another take on ultra violet. It's a softer variation that actually appears more mauve than purple on the cheeks.

Since purple shades are very flattering against brown eyes, I'm definitely thinking about adding an eyeshadow or eyeliner in this shade to my collection. Here are a few more ultra violet inspired makeup goodies. Bet you'll find something that catches your eye.[xyz-ihs snippet="ultra-violet-m"]When it comes to fashion, this color is pretty intimidating to me. It's just so bright and it seems hard to match with other colors. As I started browsing, I realized that with ultra violet clothing, there's no point in trying to "tone it down." The name of the game is more "go big or go home." It looks cool paired with bold patterns as shown in the collage above. Or, it actually works when paired up with equally striking shades like red or gold. I mean, look at what Gucci did:Now I'm not saying I'd actually wear this outfit, but you can see how ultra violet works really well with other bright, bold shades.[xyz-ihs snippet="ultra-violet-f"]So, is ultra violet a color you already have in your closet or makeup bag? If not, are you thinking of incorporating it into your look?Let me know what you think in the comments.
