May Mood | Out of My Comfort Zone
This month's theme is all about stepping out of my comfort zone. I hear that's a good thing, but it's definitely not fun, or easy. I have two incredibly exciting things happening, and I'm sure once it's all said and done, I'll look back with a huge smile on my face. In the meantime, though, it'll be a grind.First up is my first professional photoshoot for CVTD Beauty! I'm super excited about it, and after this weekend, I'll officially be able to call myself a "Creative Director" LOL. My blogger friend, Chanel, is going to be a model and we're going to focus on three spring makeup trends. Here's a look at my inspiration for the shoot:It's been nerve-wracking to figure out all the details, and the pressure for it to be perfect is definitely real. But, I know that I'll get some stunning images and probably learn a thing or two as well. The second thing that'll keep me busy this month is prepping for the Diversity in Beauty Summit in LA on May 20. I was asked to be a vendor, and while I was thrilled to be invited, I immediately became overwhelmed at the prospect of making it happen. I'm excited for the opportunity to interact with customers in person and to showcase the amazing products we carry at CVTD Beauty. I'm also anxious about how to set up the booth, decide what products to bring and figure out signage and marketing materials. They say "the devil's in the details" and that quote makes so much more sense to me now.On a bright note, I've gotten some great new products in at CVTD Beauty, and a recent feature in Beauty Independent has opened up so many exciting doors! I can't wait to share what's coming in the next few months. One thing that I can share now is that I've started curating "skincare bundles" focused on specific skincare routines. The first one is for oily/combination skin. I partnered with an amazing artist - Anna Oh - to illustrate the routine and I love how it turned out. Here's the image for the second step in the routine - misting with a balancing facial toner:Isn't it cute? You can check out the whole routine here.I've saved the most exciting thing for last - I *just* booked a ticket to visit Croatia this summer! I'm going with my niece for her belated college graduation gift (she graduated last year). I'm counting down the days until I'm at the beach staring at that beautiful blue-green water. Side note: it's insane to me that I legitimately have an adult niece (because that must mean I'm an adult too). As I think about how May is going to pan out, I keep reminding myself that this is what I've been asking, wishing, praying and working for. I've dreamed about starting my own business in the beauty space and now it's time for me to dig in and keep going. And with that, I'll leave you all with a quote that I'll be trying to keep in mind:
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. - Neale Donald Walsch
