In My Makeup Bag: Weekend Getaway

travel-mu-4.jpeg

A couple of weeks ago I discussed what I was planning to bring in my suitcase on my trip to New York (article here). Now I'm delving into my makeup bag the things that I'm glad I packed and what I could have done without.TravelmakeupbagTravel mu 2I bought this bag on Amazon after seeing it featured on Instagram and I couldn't have been more pleased. I love the shape and color and it has a top zippered compartment with a space for brushes and other smaller items that is super convenient. It held all of my makeup and there was plenty of room left over.Travel mu 3I know this looks like a crazy amount of makeup, but in my defense I knew I'd be going to a wedding, which would require a full face of makeup.  Also, I brought along some new goodies that I was too excited about to leave at home. Here's what I packed:Face: MAC Sculpting Powders in Definitive, Light Focus and Lightsweep (discussed here) // Dior 'Diorskin Nude' BB Cream (reviewed here) // MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark // MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in Bright Forecast // MAC Mineralize Concealer in NW 35 (discussed here) // Hourglass Cosmetics Ambient Lighting Palette (a trio of setting and illuminating powders that are actually worth the hype) // MAC Blush in Sweet As CocoaEyes: Chanel Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eyeshadow in Tisse Venitien (discussed here) // Anastasia Beverly Hills Tamanna Palette (gorgeous shades and only $29) // MAC Pressed Pigment in Deeply Dashing // MAC Paint Pots in Quite Natural (discussed here) and Layin' Low (used in this look) // NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia (gorgeous pewter shimmer) // MAC Brow Set in Girl Boy (Sometimes I use this to slightly lighten my brows.  It's very subtle but it creates a nice effect.) // Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Creamy Beige (I bought this because I thought it would be a low cost dupe for Layin' Low, but it has a very cool gray tone that doesn't work on my skin.) // Rimmel Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Nude (discussed here) // Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Dark BrownLips: Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Midnight Plum, MAC Lipglass in Flight of Fancy and Lipstick in Amorous (awesome plums, all reviewed here) // MAC Lip Pencils in Cork (neutral brown) and Nightmoth (deep purple) // NYX Lip Pencil in Sweet Bean (metallic gray brown, super unique but not quite sure how to wear this one) // MAC Lipstick in Craft (one of my favorite nudes, discussed here) // MAC Viva Glam Rihanna II (truly unique metallic taupe shade)Tools:  NARS Ita brush (weird shape but great for contouring) // MAC 168 brush (angled contour brush) // stila 9 brush (fluffy brush for blending out shadows in the crease) // MAC 227SE brush (smaller size because it was from a kit; I use this to apply powder to set under-eye concealer) // MAC 219 brush (pencil brush to smudge shadows along the lashline) // MAC 217 brush (super versatile brush that I use to apply shadows to lid, crease and brow bone) // MAC 266 brush (angled line brush) // stila 6 brush (covered lip brush that's a must to apply dark lip shades flawlessly) // E.L.F. large face brush // MAC 129SH brush (classic blush brush with shorter handle that's great for travel) // MAC 252 brush (large flat brush for packing shadow onto the lid) // NARS pencil sharpenerTravel mu 4Wow, this sounds insane, but I really, truly needed everything! The MAC Paint Pots and Deeply Dashing eyeshadow were must haves, along with the Hourglass palette and Sweet As Cocoa blush.  I used most of the brushes, face and the lip products, too.  Promise.
