Glossier Supers | Super Pure, Super Bounce + Super Glow | Review
So I've had the Glossier Supers serums for almost 2 months now. I feel like I've worked them into my skincare routine and compared them to other products, so I can finally give you guys my take on how The Supers work.
First, what are The Supers?
Glossier's Supers serums are actually 3 different serums that target different skincare concerns. There's Super Pure, Super Bounce and Super Glow. You can use them alone or together. You can use them daily, or just every once in a while. The whole idea is that they are meant to address specific concerns and you smooth them onto your face as you see fit. Now, let's go into details...
Super Pure
Super Pure is meant to clear your pores and fight breakouts. Its key ingredients are niacinamide and zinc (the same key ingredients found in the Sephora Clarifying Booster that I reviewed a while back). Niacinamide is soothing and helps reduce redness while zinc clears your pores and reduces sebum production.
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Niacinamide, Glycereth-26, Propanediol, Zinc PCA, Citric Acid, Lonicera Caprifolium (Honeysuckle) Extract, Peg-12 Dimethicone, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose
I've mentioned using products with salicylic acid to fight acne before (like this cleanser and this oil), but niacinamide is another great option for treating acne. Although my skin responds well to salicylic acid, I think niacinamide is less drying and maybe a bit more gentle too.Super Pure has been my most used of the Glossier Supers. I've used it morning and night and experienced no irritation at all. It doesn't provide crazy dramatic results, but think it really shines as a preventative measure. It's something that I'll put on after cleansing my face (you can see what I mean in this Nighttime Skincare Routine). I like that Super Pure has a very light texture. It feels like water on the skin and it soaks in quickly, which is nice because it doesn't interfere with other skincare or makeup.
Super Bounce
Super Bounce is my second most used of the Glossier Supers. Its key ingredients are hyaluronic acid and vitamin b5. I've mentioned hyaluronic acid before and it holds onto water, helping to keep your skin moisturized. Vitamin B5 helps regenerate your skin, making it more soft and lush.
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Biosaccharide Gum-2, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Caprylyl Glycol, Peg-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Polysorbate 80, Ethylhexylglycerin, Xanthan Gum, Octyldodecanol, Isohexadecane, Hexylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate
Usually when I think of a moisturizing serum, I think of something heavy, but the Super Bounce is really light on the skin. Again, it feels like water, but it somehow manages to keep my skin moisturized and feeling soft. This is what I bring with me when I travel because my skin always gets dry on the plane. I'll usually just add a few drops to my cheeks before putting on my moisturizer. If you have combination skin, you'll LOVE this because the little pipette lets you apply just where you need extra moisturizer. Of course, you can apply it all over your face too. Do you.
Super Glow
Of the Glossier Supers, Super Glow was the one that I've used the least. One reason is that I'm still in love with the Avon Anew Vitamin C Brightening Serum for adding glow to my skin. Another reason is that I find that as long as my skin is properly hydrated, I don't have to worry too much about having glowy skin. That being said, Super Glow is quite nice. Unlike the Avon serum, which has a heavier texture, the Super Glow has a really lightweight texture. That shouldn't surprise you by now, but I love that all of the Glossier Supers are so thin and light. It really makes a difference when you layer skincare products like I do.Its key ingredients are vitamin c and magnesium pca. Vitamin C helps even your skintone by lightening dark spots. Magnesium PCA stimulates skin cell metabolism, which is supposed to energize the skin.
Ingredients: Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycereth-26, Propanediol, Aminopropyl Ascorbyl Phosphate, Magnesium PCA, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol
I've used this on mornings when I'm more tired than usual, but since I haven't used it consistently, the jury is still out on this one. I can say that it doesn't irritate my skin at all and it plays nicely with my other skincare items. I'll continue to use this an update you guys if I see any lightening of dark spots. Each of the serums is $28, but you can buy all 3 for $65, which saves you $19.So, have you tried any of the Glossier Supers? You guys know that I'm a Glossier Rep, so order with me and earn 10% off your first order + free shipping over $30.
