Brand To Check Out: Surratt Beauty
Surratt Beauty isn't new to me, and I've played it a couple of times at Barneys, but when I saw it in Sephora a couple of weeks ago, I had to check it out. This line was created by the makeup artist Tony Surratt, and the quality is phenomenal. I'm so happy that I finally bit the bullet and bought a couple of items.
The eyeshadows and blushes are sold in separate pans with adhesive on the back. You peel of a little sticker and place the products in palettes. I got a 6-pan palette, which can fit six eyeshadows, three blushes, or some combination of the two products. I plan to have four eyeshadows and one blush to make an everyday, travel-ready palette.
I bought Dore Rose, Marron, Patine eyeshadows and Ponceau blush. Patine is a gorgeous pewter eyeshadow with gold shimmer. It's a really complex color that's super pretty and very versatile. Marron is a reddish brown and Dore Rose is a light yellow-gold. All three eyeshadows are shimmery and super creamy and blendable. In the interest of full disclosure, I did return Dore Rose a little after I bought it because I felt is wasn't as unique as some of the other shades. It's a very light gold and pretty similar to many other colors that I have.
Ponceau is a lovely bright peachy-pink color with a gorgeous satin finish. It is extremely pigmented so very little goes a long way. For this reason, I think it'll be great for so many skin tones because you can definitely layer it on to show up vibrantly on darker skin tones. The wear time is awesome, too.
So far, I'm very impressed with the texture, longevity and opacity of all of the products. My only issue is that since the back of the products just have adhesive, you can't really switch them in and out of palettes, which definitely reduces the convenience factor. I wish they were magnetic so that you could switch them in and out. Also, the products are sold with just a thin plastic sleeve, so you definitely need to put them in some kind of palette, which adds to the price. Each eyeshadow is $22 and the blushes are $32 each. The palette I purchased was $22 and a smaller palette that holds four eyeshadows is $17. Though pricey, the quality is excellent, and the colors are really beautiful.
