I think dark lipstick is always striking, but come fall, this look becomes more appropriate for daily wear, and I take full advantage!  Here's a roundup of 5 beautiful dark lipsticks that are perfect for fall, ranging from fuschia, to red, brown and deep violet.  No matter how subtle or sultry you want to go, one of these will definitely work for you!

  1. Tom Ford Lips & Boys Lipstick in Wes.  Tom Ford is considered the gold standard of beauty, and for good reason.  The brand's offerings are truly luxurious, from the packaging to the the products themselves.  So, last year, when the lipsticks were offered in mini sizes for a mere $30-something dollars (down from the $50 price tag for the full-size version), I happily accepted one from my mom.  Wes is a very dark purple shade, and in this case the extra price tag was warranted.  Often, when you get into the ultra dark territory, lipsticks can become very dry and chalky.  Not true with Wes, which applies beautifully and smoothly.  Sadly, this shade is no longer available, but a similar look can be achieved by using MAC Lip Pencil in Nightmoth and topping it with a little lipgloss or lip balm.
  2. ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Limbo.  I mentioned ColourPop's Ultra Matte Lipsticks a couple of weeks ago (review and swatches here) and Limbo is the perfect dark brown lip color for fall.  This is very similar to MAC's Photo but just a bit darker and in liquid lipstick form.  I like how long lasting these are, and I love the drama that comes from wearing a dark, matte lipstick!
  3. Chanel Rouge Allure Gloss in Audace.  This gloss is another favorite of mine because it deepens my natural lip color and adds a nice glossiness.  This is a very easy and subtle way to incorporate darker lip color into your look.  I highly recommend this for wearing to work or on weekends with a casual look, but it works just as well with a more dramatic look.  For women with darker skin, this is awesome as an everyday neutral.  Plus the case is super chic!
  4. MAC Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Nose For Style.  MAC's Mineralize Rich formula is really fantastic.  When it comes to MAC's regular lipsticks, the finish and feel can vary with the shade, but every color in the Mineralize Rich range is super creamy and moisturizing.  This is especially awesome when wearing darker shades since they draw more attention to your lips' texture.  Nose For Style is a beautiful brick red with subtle shimmer that doesn't really translate as "shimmer" on the lips, but more as a gorgeous luminosity.  This is a very classic red lipstick that's great for when you want a brighter lip color but don't want something too dramatic.  This is great for day or night.  It's a limited edition shade, but is still available online and may be in stores as well.
  5. MAC Lipstick in Rebel.  No dark lipstick roundup would be complete without mention Rebel, a super classic MAC lipstick.  Rebel is a deepened fuchsia that will brighten any look.  It has just enough pink to be super feminine, but it's dark enough to be very sophisticated.  I'm wearing it in my tutorial on How To Wear Bright Eyeshadow (check it out here), and you can see that it's gorgeous on.  If you don't have this lipstick, you're seriously missing out.
