Spring to Summer Skincare Routine for Combination Skin
This post about my spring to summer skincare routine has been a long time coming. I tend to switch up my skincare fairly often (you know, for research purposes), so I wanted to wait until I'd found a routine that really worked before posting it here. But then I realized I was about to finish some of these products, so I figured they must be working!

Alright, it looks like there are a lot of products here....and there are. BUT, I really think they all work well together. Seriously, the addition of the Lancome essence and Erbroian toner were game changers. Many of my friends say that I'm just lucky for having good skin, and yes, I really have been blessed with clear skin. However, I'm also completely obsessive about skincare and am always looking for the best skincare products.Step 1: CleanserI've mentioned this First Aid Beauty Deep Cleanser before (in my April Favorites video) and it is so good! I highly recommend this if you have oily or combination skin because it will really get your skin clean. Plus it's not super drying.Step 2: TonerAfter cleansing my skin in the morning, I like to use the Eborian Bamboo Matte Lotion. This is another one of those amazing Asian skincare imports. It's really cool because it's a bi-phase formula. The watery bamboo part moisturizes your skin, but there's a powdery part that mattifies your skin. So, you shake it up to mix the two and then I just pour some into my hands and apply it directly to my face. This isn't one of those harsh mattifying products that makes your skin feel super dry. It's actually really refreshing and it's really good for combination skin. If your skin is very oily, it may not be strong enough, but it works for me.Step 3: EssenceNext, I add an essence - Lancome Énergie De Vie Dulness Relief & Energy Recharge Daily Lotion - which is a new step in my skincare routine. This is straight from the Asian skincare bible. Essences are basically skincare primers. According to Sephora, this Lancome is "An energizing lotion that acts as a moisture magnet while relieving dullness and revitalizing the skin."As you can see in the photo above, this is a gel that just smooths over the skin easily and soaks right in. The key for moisturizing my combination skin is layering on light products, so this is really great for me. I have a smaller size that I got as a 100 point perk from Sephora a while ago, and I'm so glad I tried this out. If you have combination skin and are looking to try an essence, I highly recommend this one.Step 4: TreatmentOnce my skin is all primed from the essence, I apply this Clear Complexion Treatment by boscia. This is another product that made my April Favorites and that's because it just works. This boscia Clear Complexion Treatment has natural ingredients like willow bark extract, rosemary leaf extract, and geranium extract, which help unclog, reduce, and purify pores. I think this helps keep my skin clear and it's gentle enough for me to use morning and night.Step 5: Eye CreamWhile that soaks into my skin, I'll apply eye cream. You guys already know that I LOVE this Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream (mentioned in this post). It's super light but really moisturizing. If you're looking for a basic, everyday eye cream, this one is awesome.Step 6: MoisturizerAfter my eye cream, I'll moisturize my skin. Lately, I've been reaching for my Glossier Priming Moisturizer (see it in action in this Get Ready With Me | Glossier Tutorial), but I also really like the Too Faced Hangover Primer for a lightweight moisturizer too (I brought this with me to New York and was so happy with it).Step 6: SunscreenLast, I have to wear sunscreen. I've mentioned this before and I really can't stress enough how important it is to wear sunscreen! I had been wearing the Giorgio Armani Maestro UV Primer, but I recently finished that and have been using one by Korres lately. This Korres Suncare Yoghurt Nourishing Fluid Veil Face Sunscreen is really nice. It soaks in completely and actually does feel nourishing, but not heavy. I think both sunscreens are nice, but the Giorgio Armani has a slightly shinier finish, which is definitely something I want to avoid during the warmer months.

So, I sort of go overboard at night with making sure my skin is super clean. First, I'll use an oil to get rid of makeup. Then I'll clean with my regular cleanser (using my Clarisonic), then I'll use a micellar water to make sure my skin is 100% clean. Don't worry, I have all the details below...Step 1: Oil CleanserI first got this last fall, and it's still going strong! I also mentioned this more recently in my post about Cleansers for Glowing Skin, so y'all know I really like this cleansing oil. This is a heavier oil that feels super luxe on my skin and it's so good at removing makeup. I can't say enough good things about this DHC Deep Cleansing Oil.Step 2: Deep CleanserNext, I use the First Aid Beauty Cleanser with my Clarisonic. As I mentioned in my May Favorites video, I started using my Clarisonic again because I don't think my skin was getting clean enough. I wasn't exactly having lots of acne, but I had small bumps and other signs of congestion on my skin. Once I added the Clarisonic, my skin really improved.Step 3: Micellar WaterLast, to make sure all the makeup and cleanser is gone, I'll apply some micellar water to a cotton pad and go over my face. This Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water is really gentle but effective. It may seem like overkill to add this step, but I challenge you to try this and look on the cotton pad. If it's all nice and clean, then congrats, your skin was already clean and you probably don't need it. But I bet that it'll be dirty. For me, I never get all into my hairline when I wash my face, so adding this step helps make sure that my face is all the way clean.Steps 4 & 5: Essence and TreatmentThen, I'll apply the same essence and skin treatment that I mentioned above before applying my eye cream.Step 6: Eye CreamAt night, I like something a little heavier, so I use this one by Kiehl's. The Creamy Avocado Eye Cream is a cult classic for a reason. It's gentle and really moisturizing.Step 7: MoisturizerFor moisturizer, I'll usually just throw on my same Glossier moisturizer.Step 8: Facial OilThe last step is my facial oil. I am obsessed with skin oils, but I keep coming back to this Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This legit makes your skin glow in the morning. Can't recommend this enough as an amazing facial oil.[row padding_top="" padding_bottom="" bg="" bg_light="true" appear="false"] [column size="1-2" appear="false"][/column] [column size="1-2" appear="false"][/column] [/row]So...that's it. I know it's kind of intense, but I actually LOVE going through all these skincare steps.
