September Mood: Texture, Change + Paris
Even though it's been a long time since I've had a first day at school, September still feels like the start of something new. It's been hot as hell in the Bay, so I'm def not wearing new fall clothes, but I have a few online shopping carts full of sweaters and blazers and ankle booties (of course).
texture
I'm all about embroidery and embellishment because it's a cool way to make basics seem a little less...basic. This Zara sweater is super cute. And I love these pants and this jacket too. Basically, I'm just looking for a new way to wear the same outfit that I always wear anyways. What can I say? I like what I like.Clothes inspired by the 70s are pretty much everywhere this fall, so that also means there's lots of velvet, brocade and corduroy. I'm not gonna complain about it either. I'll take any excuse to wear a turtleneck and high-waisted flares.
change
Maybe it's because once you're out of school, you don't have those milestones to let you know that you're transitioning to a new stage. Like, there's no graduation, no new classes, no new anything it seems. That means I've been feeling restless lately and really desperate for some kind of change. So, I've been seriously thinking of a blunt bob like the one Yvonne Orji sometimes wears as Molly in Insecure. Speaking of Insecure, who else is sad the season's already over?In case you've now become obsessed with all the actors on the show (like me), you might enjoy this article where Molly Yvonne talks all about her beauty routine.
paris
Of course I had to save the best for last. My mom and I are going to Paris next week!! I'm so excited because I really need to get away from my day-to-day routine. I spent my last semester of law school in Paris, and I took a solo trip back to Paris about 3 years ago so I'm overdue for another trip. Please give me any and all recommendations on shopping and restaurants. All I wanna do is eat pastries and buy shoes.
happy september
p.s. Let me know what you think of this post and if I should make it a monthly thing!
