Pink and Purple Makeup | Spring Makeup Obsession
I'm so ready for spring (makeup)! Spring makeup to me is all about pastels and soft golds, but for some reason, I've been reaching for pink and purple makeup instead. Crazy, right?Usually, I just go for neutral, bronzey shades, with a little peach thrown in for good measure. But lately, I've been LOVING wearing pink and purple makeup shades. My go-to makeup look lately has been a purple cream eyeshadow with pink cheeks and lips. I know...it sounds kinda extra, but somehow it works.I think that when it comes to wearing bright eyeshadows, cream formulas are so much more forgiving than powder. You can sheer them out a bit and the little bit of luminosity somehow feels less harsh. Also, they say that purple is the best color to wear if you have brown eyes, so there's that too.For eyes, I've been reaching for Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amethyst Aphrodisiac, which is a vibrant purple with warm pink undertones and a little bit of glitter. I know, purple glitter sounds way out there, but I promise I wore this to work and felt completely comfortable. I just smudged it into my lash line and blended it out and I loved how it looked. This shadow stick was very long-lasting too.The other, more subtle, purple shadow that I've been wearing a lot lately is the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Amethyst. Ok, I literally just realized that these shadows have the same name! Well that explains why I've been loving them so much. But despite sharing a name, the colors are very different. The CT one is much brighter and more warm toned while the LM one is cooler and almost has a taupe undertone. For cheeks, I've been alternating between Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff (shop with me here) and Bite Beauty Multistick in Marscapone. As you guys saw in my Cloud Paint Swatch Video, Puff is a very cool-toned pink that magically works on my skintone. Marscapone looks like a warm peach/pink on the swatch, but on my face is more of a true pink.I love the Multistick formula as a blush because it's less slick than many cream blushes. As a lipstick, it's super matte and long-wearing. The other lip color that I've worn a lot lately is the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick in Rapture. I bought this last year on sale when Urban Decay was changing its formula, and I LOVE this formula and color. It's definitely one of those "my lips but better" shades for me. It's a great matte because it's pigmented and long lasting but not super drying. Here's a couple of pictures of me wearing Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amethyst Aphrodisiac on the eyes, Glossier Cloud Paint in Puff on the cheeks and Urban Decay Matte Lipstick in Rapture.[You may recognize this look from my Flat Twist Out Tutorial.]I'd love to hear what shades you guys have been reaching for lately! Let me know in the comments.
