October Mood: Velvet, Plaid + ACTION

October-Mood-Board.jpg

We're officially in the last quarter of 2017 and I've got a lot to get done.  I'm getting very close to seeing one of my biggest dreams come to life, but I'm also feeling stressed and overwhelmed.  I'm walking that tightrope between planning and doing and always seem to come out on the wrong end.  Sometimes I make a move just to realize that I should've thought it through just a little bit more.  Other times, I'm flabbergasted at how much time I've spent deliberating when I could've just done something already.  Can anyone relate? Here's what I'm feeling as we ease into one of my favorite months (mainly because it sits next to my birthday month)...Thoughts & Prayers.  For Puerto Rico, Houston and Las Vegas.  But what about action, too?

  • The Houston Food Bank is a worthy charity, not only now, but always since hunger and food insecurity is the unfortunate reality for many people.
  • No matter what charity or cause you choose to support, take a minute to look it up here first to make sure it's on the up and up.
  • And, let's all take a couple minutes to text "ACT" to 64433 to get more information on how to advocate for gun control.

White Shoes.  Three words - told you so.  Love how the models in the Tibi AW 2017 rocked this trend.Plaid Blazers. I've been trying to look more polished at work, so I've been on the lookout for an oversized (but not too oversized) plaid blazer.  I've been visiting this one and this jacket pretty regularly, but haven't decided to check out just yet.WANDERLUST.  If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I was recently in Paris.  And there's just something about Paris that makes my everyday life feel so....basic.  So to make the return to my routine a bit more bearable, I've been plotting my next trip.  I'm thinking Bogota!  If you've been, let me know in the comments.#girlboss IRL.  I'll have more to share in the coming weeks, but I'm taking a page from Sophia Amoruso's book. Follow along on the journey and get a glimpse of what it is here. The Law of Attraction.  We've all heard this phrase tossed about (usually by people who annoyingly seem to have it all figured out), but there's some truth to it.  The past three years have been transformative to me in so many ways, and in the last six months or so, things finally started to make sense.  I noticed that when I truly, truly started to treat myself well, love myself, prioritize myself and be more forgiving to myself, the people in my life started to do the same.  And the ones who didn't, or couldn't, faded away.  I saw that the thoughts that I repeat to myself day in and day out have a way of manifesting themselves in real life.  The more positivity that I could create in my head translated to more positivity in every aspect in my life.  Now that doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but things are better than they've been in a very long time and I'm so grateful for that.Despite all the craziness, pain and loss in the world, I hope you all take a few minutes to restore your spirit and find joy today.
