MAC Amber Times Nine {Product Review}

I've bought quite a few eyeshadow palettes in the last couple of months, and MAC's Amber Times Nine palette is one of my favorites.MAC Amber Times Nine Palette | #beautyblogger #productreview | beautyluxelife

I love the versatility of this palette and think it's great for both every day as well as special occasion makeup.  The colors strike the right balance between warm and cool tones, which can often be hard to find in the realm of neutral eyeshadow palettes.  In short, I am super happy with this palette.  More details and swatches below...

Here are some swatches of the MAC Amber Times Nine palette:

Here are the shades and descriptions:

  • Cozy Grey: Coolgrey (Matte)
  • Kitties: Pale bronze (Frost)
  • Georgia Peach: Dirty rose pink (Matte)
  • Ricepaper: Peachy gold with shimmer (Frost)
  • Creative Copper: Light beige (Lustrel)
  • Cork: Muted golden brown (Satin)
  • Don't Tell: Sparkly brown (Lustre)
  • Aromatic: Matte brown (Matte)
  • Pepper Please: Sparkly bronze copper brown (Velvet)

All of the shades applied pretty smoothly, but Ricepaper and Cozy Grey were patchy when swatched.  Aromatic was surprisingly smooth for such a dark matte shade, and my favorite is Don't Tell because this is a shade I could swipe all over my lids and be out of the door quickly.

The size of each eyeshadow pan is definitely smaller than the normal sizes, but since I hardly finish eyeshadows, I have no problem with the size.  Plus, this size makes this palette very travel-friendly.  Most palettes are awkward sizes, so I definitely appreciate how compact this is.  I would say this palette is a bit bigger than the size of my palm (3" square).

Overall, I really like this palette and definitely recommend it if you love neutral eyeshadows.  The shades aren't especially unique, but I like that the shades are not too warm or too cool, so this would be suitable for all skin tones, plus there is a nice balance of light and dark shades, as well as different textures.

You can purchase it at Nordstrom for $40.
