Gentle Yet Effective Acne Treatments

Luckily, acne hasn't been much of an issue for me.  This is definitely a blessing, but I had sort of taken it for granted that my skin would always be clear.  So, when I would get the occasional blemish, I was at a total loss as to how to treat the problem.  I didn't want to go overboard with harsh products, but I definitely wasn't gonna sit around and let nature run its course.  After lots of trial and error, I've finally found two products that are really good at clearing up my occasional breakouts without irritating or drying my skin.

Philosophy Clear Days Ahead is a jar of medicated pads with the key ingredient salycylic acid.  One pad has more than enough product to wipe my whole face.  I'd even considered cutting these in half to get even more usage since each pad is quite saturated.  I like to use these at night in anticipation of hormonal breakouts.  I also like to use these after a heavy workout as a preventative measure to make sure that my face is really clean.  The best part about these is that they do not irritate or dry my skin at all.  I find this to be a relatively gentle product.  If I were more concerned with acne, I would probably use these every night or every other night just to stay ahead of breakouts.

Kate Somerville HydraClear was a product that I got as one of Sephora's 100 point perks at checkout.  I am really happy this this "hydrating acne gel" because it's also quite gentle.  This is something that I use in the morning after cleansing.  I only apply a tiny bit on affected areas and I've noticed that it helps speed up the healing process after a pimple appears.  Since a little goes a long way, this tiny tube will likely last me for several months.  I'd definitely purchase a full size though because it's very effective but non-irritating.
