Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation | Review + FOTD
I've been meaning to review the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation for a minute now. I mentioned it a while back in my post about new fall foundations, but I've been distracted with all the other ABH releases lately. I mean, the Master Palette by Mario palette was so good! And the Modern Renaissance palette that I've been using on the regular is stunning. Basically, Anastasia can do no wrong.Truth be told, I got the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation in Amber and Chestnut back in September. Then I picked up the contour shade, Mink, a little over a week ago during the Sephora VIB Sale. Clearly, I was impressed.First off, there's an extensive shade range- 19 foundation shades and 4 highlight/contour shades. Second, this foundation has a really nice texture. And third, the finish is amazing.I think this is a medium to full coverage foundation, but you can get lighter coverage if you want. I usually like to make a swipe down the center of my face and then two swipes on each cheek. Then I'll buff the foundation into my face with a foundation brush (like the Real Techniques one that I mention in this video). I used to be super loyal to the Beauty Blender for foundation, but I think that a brush works way better for stick foundations.I actually ordered these two foundations sight unseen because I was super eager to try them out. I actually thought that Chestnut would be my shade, but I bought Amber to use during the winter. But, it turns out that Amber was a great match, but I sometimes use Chestnut around my hairline and cheeks almost as a very subtle bronzer. Here are some swatches comparing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation to two of my favorite NARS formulas:As you can see, Amber has a much more cool/neutral undertone compared to how yellow the NARS shades look. To be honest, though, I usually like to get foundations that seem more yellow because I think it brightens my face and makes me look more refreshed. It's just my thing, you know? So, here's a look of me wearing the Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation in Amber. As you can see, this shade is a really good match for my skintone. I think this is one of the best stick foundations out (and I've tried Hourglass and Clinique, so I'm kind of an expert).I think this foundation is so good for everyday, or special occasions, because it's definitely buildable for more coverage if you want. Also, in case you're curious, here are the details on the rest of my makeup:
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Stick Foundation in Amber
- Zoeva Love Color Blush in Burning Up* (Stay tuned for a post with my favorite everyday blushes soon!)
- MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Spirit (One of my **favorite** lipsticks at the moment. I also used it in my Everyday Fall Makeup Tutorial.)
- Glossier Boy Brow in Black
- Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara in Black
Also, sorry that I got off schedule with my posts this week! I've been trying so hard to post 3 times a week but just couldn't get things together this week. But I'll have another video up this weekend, and will be back to regularly scheduled posts too! I hope you all have an amazing weekend. Drop me a note in the comments and let me know what you'll be getting into!
