Top 5: MAC Lipsticks

Today I'm going back to basics with my top 5 favorite MAC lipsticks.  The last time that I did a Top 5 was ages ago (check out my post on Top 5: Palettes here), but I guess I have lipstick on the brain since National Lipstick Day was just a couple of weeks ago (check out a round-up on my favorite lipsticks here).

MAC was the first department store makeup brand that I purchased, so it'll always have a place in my heart.  Whenever I want a new lipstick, I usually head to MAC first.  One reason is that the brand carries so many damn colors, so I feel like if they don't make it, it probably doesn't exist.  Also, the sales associates are always so helpful and they encourage you to play around with different colors.

Over the years I've expanded to many different brands, some more luxurious and some straight from Walgreens.  But no matter how many new brands that I try and love, I always find myself picking up a new lipstick (or three) from MAC each season.  Here are my all time favorites:

Photo is a gorgeous and creamy brown with red undertones.  It is a very rich color that's super flattering and pretty unique.  I used this in my recent Summer Grunge Makeup Tutorial on YouTube.

Flat Out Fabulous is a very vibrant matte fuchsia.  It's a bit out of my comfort zone, but somehow this color remains wearable.  Though it's a matte formula, it's actually pretty comfortable, and it's extremely long-lasting.

Freckletone is my favorite peachy-nude color.  The key to wearing light nude colors with darker skin is picking a color that is a little sheer.  This allows your lip color to show through just enough to keep your lips from looking too stark and pale.

Twig is probably the most versatile of all of the colors because it's a very pretty pink/berry color that's perfect for everyday.  This is amazing for wearing to work, but you can make it more bold by adding a darker liner or topping it with a pink gloss.  This is such a pretty color and a great start for building you MAC makeup collection.

Can't Get Enough is one of my favorite lipsticks because it's so creamy and comfortable to wear.  It's a beautiful shimmery color but it's not too sheer, so it's very versatile.  This looks great with a dark smoky eye, or with a super neutral eye look.
