Raise your hand if you’re tired of people thinking nude means beige. Seriously, this is one of my biggest makeup pet peeves. I think “nude” is some mix of your skintone and natural lip color. This means it could be anywhere from milk to dark chocolate and all the yumminess in between. You can throw in pink and plum and peach too. There’s seriously lots of options. So why is nude always beige?? Anyways, I thought I’d do an updated post on my current favorite nude lipsticks for dark skin.
Funny thing is that as I was picking my favorite nude lipsticks (I have many, many shades to choose from) I thought I’d found 6 very different shades. But then I went to swatch and 2 shades are almost exactly the same. I know I’m not the only one who’s thought they were getting something new only to discover there’s a dupe (or 3) at home.

Swatches (L to R): Urban Decay Lipstick in Abstract, MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Spirit, MAC Cosmetics Lipstick in Velvet Teddy, MAC Cosmetics Liptensity in Toast and Butter, Buxom Wildly Whipped Soft Matte Lip Color in Centerfold and Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Glossy Lip in Weho.
Spirit and Velvet Teddy are very similar; on the lips they’re almost identical. I think Toast and Butter is probably the easiest one for me to just wear without thinking. It has a very creamy, satin finish that’s moisturizing and really comfortable on the lips. I haven’t tried other shades from MAC’s “Liptensity” line but I really should. The whole line is super moisturizing and pigmented.

On my face I’m wearing the Estee Edit Skin Glowing Balm in Caramel which is making my skin look ultra warm and glowy in these pictures. I wear this to look like I’ve just been on vacation when in reality it’s #cubiclelife non-stop.
I hope you guys liked this post and that it helps you find a good nude lipstick. Let me know in the comments what you’ve been trying lately!
