Fall Makeup Trends Straight from the Runway | Fall - Winter 2018

I know most people are focused on the clothes, bags and shoes during fashion week, but I love looking at the makeup. Behind the scenes images reveal new makeup products months before they're available, and the runways are where we get a first look at makeup trends. Since it's officially fall, I decided to take a look at the autumn / winter 18 runway shows to get a look at the best fall makeup trends.

Keep on reading for some gorgeous (and wearable) fall makeup trends and how you can get the looks at home...

1. bejeweled lids

fall makeup trends jeweled lidsI love the embellished eyelids at Ganni and Akris. Since both designers toned down the rest of the face with very natural makeup, the eyes really are the focus of the look. In real life, I would probably use the Stila Glitter and Glow liquid eyeshadows in either Gold Goddess or Diamond Dust to make this look a bit more wearable.

2. smokey eyes

I think eyeshadow sticks are the best way to get this effortless smokey eye look. I have a post from way back with my favorites. If you're looking for something new, I highly suggest this Laura Mercier Holiday Set. Her eyeshadow sticks are some of the best and the set is a really good deal.

3. modern mod

One of my favorite fall makeup trends from the fall / winter 2018 runways is what I like to call "modern mod." It's an updated version of the classic 60s makeup that I envision whenever I think of Twiggy. Instead of the bright white eyeshadow all over the lid, you'll see a bright white (but still matte) inner corner. It still opens the eyes, but it's less extreme and more wearable. This look is super easy. Just pop any white, off-white or even silver shade on your inner corner (make sure it's satin or matte). Then do a sheer coverage, matte foundation with neutral blush and lips and you're done.

4. pink eyeshadow

If you read this post, then you already know how much I love pink eyeshadow. It's not the first color that comes to mind when I think of fall makeup trends, but that's probably why I'm so excited. Pink eyeshadow is unexpected, and as we can see on Christian Siriano's runway, it can be sophisticated too.On the runway, it's paired with a winged black liner, simple hair and nude lips (are we seeing a trend?). This turns the ultra-girl pink eyeshadow into something more elegant. To get this look, I'd probably use the NYX Vivid Brights Cream Eyeshadow with a liquid liner (I love the one from Sephora) and a creamy nude lipstick.

so, what's your favorite trend?
