Week in Review - Vol. 9 {L.A. Again}
on the road again...
This week I was back in L.A. doing more interviewing. Once you've been on the job hunt for a little while, the prospect of another interview produces a mixed bag of emotions. There's definitely excitement and optimism, but there's also a healthy dose of trepidation and a bit of nervousness also. I'm happy to report that the interviews went well, so now it's back to the waiting game.
is it bad to follow your gut?
I just read a really interesting article outlining the problems with following your gut when looking for a career. I didn't agree with every point that the author made, but he argued that five factors: independence, sense of completion, variety, feedback from the job and contribution, not "passion" are the real indicators of lasting job satisfaction. This really made sense to me because these criteria provided a guide for actively looking for a career and then making the most of it once you've started working. The thing about following your passion is that it creates a binary - either you have a job that relates to your passion, or you don't. Alternatively, if you look for a career that allows you to be independent and gives you variety, you just might be on to something great.
farmer's market inspiration
I've been trying to do most of my produce shopping at farmer's markets lately. The prices are great and I like supporting local businesses. But sometimes it can be so overwhelming! I tend to stick with the things that I know I'll like, but this roundup of 30 seasonal meals is so inspiring. {Buzzfeed}
