Nighttime Skincare Routine For Normal/Combination Skin: Summer Edition

As promised, here's my nighttime skincare routine. Right now, my main skincare concerns have been lightening some dark spots left from a couple of breakouts that I had last month and keeping my pores clear.  I live in a pretty temperate climate, so there's not much that I need to change now that it's summer.  The only thing I'd change in winter would be to add another moisturizer before the Jouer oil, like Neutragena's Hydro-Gel (mentioned here).nightime-skincare-routineI usually throw in Caudalie's Purifying Mask (mentioned here) and Bliss's Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask (mentioned here) once a week depending on whether or not my skin is congested.  Also, if my skin feels dry, I may add another moisturizer, like the Neutrogena product I mentioned above, or my Mario Badescu Honey Moisturizer (mentioned here).nighttime-skincare-routine-normal-combo-skin1. Cleanse.  This was discussed in-depth in my previous post.  I'm a huge fan of oil cleansers and this formula is very effective and gentle.2. Exfoliate.  I first mentioned this exfoliator last November (here), and I'm still very happy with it.  I focus on my nose and chin because those are the areas where I experience the most congestion and breakouts.  It may be obvious, but I recently started really customizing where I apply certain skincare products.  For example, my cheeks tend to be dry and more sensitive, so I do not use the exfoliator on my cheeks at all.  Paying more attention to different parts of my face has helped me to use products correctly to make sure my skin behaves.  Though this requires a little more detail, this is necessary for combination skin because it is characterized by having different skin types on the face.3. Tone.  You guys know how much I love this product, so I'll spare you.  This is definitely a holy grail product because it manages to keep my skin clean and moisturized.4. Treat.  Again, I already mentioned this one and I've been using it for about a month now.  I do notice that a dark spot on my chin from acne has gotten significantly lighter, so I'm happy to report that this seems to be working.5. Moisturize.  This Jouer Daily Age Repair Oil is really great.  I love face oils and like the thicker feel of this one.  The brand highlights the ingredient "revinage, a bioretinol complex that mimics the positive effects of a retinol but without the harsh side effects."  I haven't been using my prescription retinol lately, but I still want to include an anti-aging step to my skincare routine, so I was excited to try this oil.  I got it as part of Jouer's makeup subscription service (reviewed here) and am very pleased with this product.  It's quite moisturizing, so on my recent trip to New York and Costa Rica, I did not add another moisturizer on top of this.  Now that I'm back in California, I sometimes use a moisturizer but if I lived in a more humid climate, or if I had more oily skin, I would use this alone.**Note:  I always use an eye cream at night, but I haven't committed to one.  I have tons of samples, so I just use whatever's on hand.  I used Amore Pacific Time Response Eye Renewal Cream for a couple of months and was really happy with it.  It was rich but still light and didn't irritate my skin.  When that sample ran out, I started using Kiehls Super Multi-Corrective Eye Opening Serum, and really like how light this is.  It's supposed to "lift, firm, smooth, hydrate, and restore youthful shape of the eye."  I don't have major sagging issues in my eye area, but I can say that it absorbs very quickly and is moisturizing.  Also, it doesn't leave as much of a residue on my lids as the Amore Pacific version, so it's especially appropriate now that it's warmer outside.  The Kiehls eye cream is also much more affordable, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for an eye cream. What are your nighttime essentials?Shop the post below:[xyz-ihs snippet="nighttime"]Like what you see?Like beautyluxelife on Facebook here.Follow along on Bloglovin' here.
