Summer Makeup Edit
Summer is here! The last of the good shows just had its season finale (Game of Thrones, obvi) and I'm trying to throw together something red, white and cute for this weekend. Besides trying to find something good to watch when I get home from work (I am a TV junkie), I'm also figuring out my summer makeup.Having a beat face during the warm weather takes lots of strategy, planning and prayer. There's that fine line between having your face done and being overdone. So, here are my summer makeup picks:
summer makeup | eyes
Surprise! My picks for eye makeup are all shimmery cream shadows :-). Y'all know these kinds of shadows are my kryptonite. They're just so easy to wear.MAC's Soft Serve Shadow in Softened Up is a perfect shimmery brown that is so pretty for everyday. I threw this on yesterday and it adds just enough color and shimmer. Chanel's Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow in Rouge Gorge is another neutral but it's a nice peachy/orange shade with subtle sparkle. Both the Chanel and MAC shadows are really long-lasting too, so again right on time for summer. The MAC Soft Serve Shadow in Big Bad Blue and the Bobbi Brown Metallic Long Wear Cream Shadow in Opal are more for weekends (or, if you're feeling edgy, for work too!). The MAC one is a really pretty ocean blue and the Bobbi Brown one just adds lots of iridescent glitter. Like, it's glitter for grown up. Super pretty but not over the top, and no glitter glue required.
summer makeup | lips
Metallic lips. That's it. I'm all about metallic lips for summer. You saw me wearing the Kylie Cosmetics metallic liquid lipstick in King K in this post. And I have swatches of the Jouer metallic liquid lipsticks in this haul video. Basically, I love how metallic liquid lipsticks are a little bit 90s but with a twist. But, for good measure, I included my favorite peach lipstick - Dohee by Colourpop (also featured in this post) because variety is always a good thing.Oh yeah, I also broke my No Buy and bought these Colourpop Ultra Metallic Lip liquid lipsticks (stay tuned for an upcoming post comparing all of these different liquid lipstick formulas). They just looked so pretty and they're only $6 each. The flesh is weak, what can I say?

Alright y'all already know I'm all about that glow. But for summer, I have to balance looking glowy and just looking straight up sweaty, so I think I'll be using this MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark instead of the tinted moisturizers and foundations that I usually wear. For glow, I really like this Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Gleam. Even though I bought it a little while ago, I'm just now wearing it because....I have a ton of makeup and I forgot about it. BUT, the highlighters are super pretty and I'll probably have a review and swatches soon. And of course, I couldn't talk about glow without mentioning the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector (both liquid and pressed versions) in Topaz. These are favorites from last summer that I still L-O-V-E.I also have yet another highlighter by Colourpop in the shade Avalon which is a really pretty rosey/bronze color. This adds a nice hint of color. And finally, there's a nice bronzer also by Colourpop - Bronze Me - which is a really nice warm brown. I don't wear bronzer that often, but I like this one. It's just a couple of shades darker than my skintone so it's pretty subtle, plus it's easy to blend.[xyz-ihs snippet="summer-makeup"]
