Eye Cream Chronicles | More Mini Empties
Here's another post going through some skincare samples and this time it's all about eye cream. I've been adding eye cream to my skincare routine for a few years now, but, honestly, I can never really tell if it's working or not. When I use eye cream, I notice that my concealer goes on a bit smoother, but as far as fine lines, I don't see much of a difference. That means that I'm always looking out for something better. I have four different eye creams that I put to the test over the last few months: Darphin Creme Contour Des Yeux, Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment, Orlane B21 Extraordinaire Jeunesse Des Yeux and 111 Skin Face Space Defence Bright Lift Eye Gel.
Darphin Creme Contour des Yeux
First off, I'm pretty unfamiliar with Darphin as a whole, and I only tested the Creme Contour des Yeux because this cute little sample came in a gift bag from Neiman Marcus. This eye cream is rich. It's probably the heaviest of the bunch, so it isn't my cp of tea. Something this rich only worked for me at night, and even then, I had to use just the tiniest amount. Otherwise, my eyes felt all greasy and a little uncomfortable.I get that it's heavy because it's meant as an anti-wrinkle cream, but I didn't see any difference in my fine lines when I used it. But, in all honesty, I didn't use up the whole jar. Needless to say, I won't be purchasing the full size.
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
I've mentioned this eye cream before - in this skincare routine post - and it's a really good one. I see it all the time in articles about celeb's favorite skincare, and for good reason. It's super moisturizing and reasonably priced ($29 for a jar that will last for months). Even though it does the trick, I don't think I'll be buying the Creamy Eye Treatment again. I've found that it doesn't sink in that quickly, so this is another product that only works for evening use for me. It seems like just too much of a hassle to have different eye creams for day and night use. I realize that may sound crazy coming from the queen of long skincare routines, but hey, this eye cream just isn't what I'm looking for. So, on to the next one.
Orlane B21 Extraordinaire Jeunesse Des Yeux
This eye cream is definitely more what I'm looking for. It has a gel-like texture that feels light on my skin and absorbs quickly. This is something that really works for day and night and wears nicely under makeup. Of course it's insanely expensive ($175 for just 15 ml), so I won't be re-purchasing this any time soon. But, if you're in the market for a skin care splurge, definitely check this out.
111 Skin Face Space Defence Bright Lift Eye Gel
Of the four eye creams, I'd say this 111 Skin eye cream is the best. First, it actually has a gel texture and so it's super light. It soaks right in and there's no greasy residue. I also like that this has a nice brightening effect on the eyes. In the mornings, I also noticed it helps with puffiness. Unfortunately, this is no bargain ($190), but it works. A really good alternative is the Clinique Pep Start cream (mentioned in this skincare routine post) because it definitely helps with morning puffiness too.I'd love to hear if you've found a good eye cream! Since I wasn't super impressed with any of these ones, my search continues. (But, I have been liking the eye cream I mentioned in my October Favorites post.)
