Current Skincare Routine | Winter-Spring Transition

It's been a while since I've discussed my current skincare routine.  Here's my skincare routine that's been working during this winter-spring transition period.

Daytime Skincare Routine

daytime skincare routine winter spring transitionGlossier Jelly Milk CleanserThis is another Glossier product that is simple but effective. The Glossier Jelly Milk Cleanser is super gentle and not drying on my skin, which is a major plus for me. It sort of feels like Cetaphil cleanser (which is a must if you have very sensitive skin. It's even recommened for use on babies!). I love using this in the morning because it preps my skin for the day.Lush Tea Tree WaterI feel like I will always have this in my skincare routine. I've talked about this before (in this video on my November favorites) so I won't go too in-depth here, but I notice that I have less acne when I consistently uses this toner. I like to be extra and just spray it all over my face and then rub it in with my hands.Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with AvocadoThis is a very moisturizing eye cream that I will probably only use at night going forward. I think it's great for dry, cold winter weather, but it's definitely spring here, so I'll probably switch to something lighter for day (I've been using and loving the Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream that I mentioned in this video on my February Favorites). Nonetheless, this is non-irritating and quite hydrating.Kate Somerville Quench Oil-Free SerumA couple of months ago I noticed that during the day my cheeks would start to feel super dry and tight. I was pretty happy with everything else that I'd been using on my face, so decided to just add this to my routine. I love how it added just the right amount of moisture but did not make my combination skin feel greasy. There's a reason that this made my Best of 2015. It definitely improves the look and feel of my skin. If you have oily skin, you may get away with using this alone as the weather warms up. If you have dry skin, they have a richer version (the regular Quench Serum).Kiehl's Ultra Facial CreamThis is one of Kiehl's classic products for good reason. It just works. It's your basic moisturizer that's not too heavy and not too light. It doesn't have any bells and whistles, which is totally fine by me. It just moisturizes my skin and makes it feel all plump and soft. Basically it's perfection.Algenist Ultra Lightweight UV Defense Fluid SPF 50I wear sunscreen every single day. I think a lot of black women think we don't need to wear sunscreen, and while our skin may not burn as easily as those with lighter skin, it's still skin. The sun will damage all skin to some extent, no matter what color. I love this because it doesn't make my skin look all ashy and gray. It also dries to a nice matte finish so it's a really great product that I definitely recommend.  It's a very high SPF, which probably isn't necessary (SPF 30 is recommended), but I like the formula, so I wear it anyway.

Nighttime Skincare Routine

nighttime-skincare-routineDHC Deep Cleansing OilRemember a while back when I mentioned receiving this product? Well, this is amazing! I've tried a few different cleansing oils (I discussed the Julep Cleansing Oil in my Fall Nighttime Skincare Routine), but this just may be my favorite so far. It feels thick when you pump it out, but there's no residue on my face after I rinse it off. I use this whenever I'm wearing makeup...so basically every day LOL. I can rub this all over my eyes to take off mascara and it doesn't irritate me at all. I love this and will definitely repurchase (but this lasts FOREVER, been using it for like 2-3 months and it's only half empty).Glossier Jelly Milk CleanserI like to double-cleanse so after I take off my makeup, I use the Glossier cleanser. I've never tried using just the cleansing oil because I like to make sure my skin is super clean at night. Plus I like doing all these steps! It just relaxes me and feels like a mini pamper session.Lush Tea Tree WaterI like using this day and night because it just works really really well.Pixi Overnight Glow SerumSo, I had been using the Pixi Glow Tonic (which I loved by the way and will discuss in a future post) but when that ran out, I decided to try the serum. Both promise glow by exfoliating your skin using glycolic acid (another topic I'll be discussing in a future post...soo many posts to look forward to!) but the Glow Serum is stronger. I only use this a couple of times a week but I like that it helps to clear out my pores and seems to help make my skin look a little more radiant in the morning.Kiehl's Eye CreamI'll continue using this at night because I like how rich it feels.Kiehl's Ultra Facial CreamIf I weren't layering an oil on top, I'd probably use a heavier moisturizer. I really like to pack on the moisture at night. I think it makes my skin look more glowy and plump in the morning. Plus I just love slathering my face in creams and potions!Kiehl's Midnight Recovery ConcentrateI love this oil because it's light but moisturizing. Since I've started using it, I've noticed a big improvement in my skin. I use this pretty much every single night.  I have a full review in this post on my current favorite facial oils. And that's it!
