Colourpop Disney Designer Collection | Swatches + Thoughts

It seems like it's been forever since I've done a straight-up makeup review. I'm going to be doing many more reviews in the next few weeks, and today it's all about the Colourpop Disney Designer Collection. This collection dropped about a month ago, and it's going to be restocked today - November 2 at 10am. You can use this link to get 20% off your first order (it's an affiliate link).Colourpop Disney Designer collectionAs you can tell by the name, this whole collaboration between Colourpop and Disney is focused on the Disney princesses and it features the "couture" versions of all of our favorites. When I heard about this collaboration, I knew I had to grab a few things because Disney movies were a huge part of my childhood. The Little Mermaid and Aladdin were in HEAVY rotation in my household so I had very high expectations about the Colourpop Disney Designer collection. What's part of the collection:

  • It's a Princess Thing Palette - $20
  • Lux Lipsticks in ArielSnow WhiteTianaBelleJasmine and Cinderella - $7 each
  • Super Shock Shadows in So This Is LoveHeigh-HoUnder The SeaAlmost ThereBe Our Guest and A Whole New World - $5 each
  • Ultra Glossy Lips in BibbidiBobbidi and Boo (cute right?) - $6
  • Super Shock Highlighters in Part Of Your World and A Smile And A Song - $8 each

There are also options to buy the whole collection (minus the highlighters) for $110 as well as the PR Kit for $120 (minus the highlighters and 2 shadows).I bought everything except the highlighters because I just couldn't help myself. Here are my thoughts on the hits and misses of the Colourpop Disney Designer collection:

It's a Princess Thing Palette

It's a princess thing palette from the Colourpop Disney Designer collection.Of course, here are some swatches:As you can see above, the middle shimmery pink shade - Fairy Godmother - is pretty powdery. This was probably the worst performing shade in the palette because the powdery texture made it harder to work with. I have a photo below with Fairy Godmother blended in so you can see that it's actually a very pretty shade, but the formula just isn't as good as the others.I was most excited about the eyeshadow palette, and even though it's pretty, I'm just not wowed by it. The first three matte shades appear more chalky on the eyes than they do in swatches. The metallic shades are very pretty, but as a whole It's A Princess Thing just doesn't inspire me very much. For $20, I don't think you'll be disappointed at all. The design and concept are adorable and the eyeshadows are nice, but it's not something I would rush out to purchase.

Super Shock Shadows

Colourpop's Super Shock Shadow formula is incredible and these 6 shadows are awesome. If you like this formula and don't have similar colors already, I'd definitely suggest these. All of these colors are gorgeous, but my favorites are Almost There (I used this in the makeup look) and A Whole New World. These eyeshadows are pigmented, creamy, easy to use and long-lasting. Definitely some of my favorite eyeshadows on the market.

Lux Lipsticks

The packaging is awesome and the lipsticks are smooth, pigmented and creamy. If you like any of these colors, you won't be disappointed if you decide to buy. My favorite color is Belle because it's such a wearable mauve pink shade. I think that Ariel should have been a bright orange-red, but otherwise I think the colors are good representations of each Disney princess.

Ultra Glossy Lips

Colourpop's Ultra Glossy Lip formula is great. I have a lot of these glosses and I reach for the often because they're very shiny but not too sticky. I gotta give credit for the very cute names of these glosses and all three shades are super wearable. My favorite is Bobbidi because it's a perfect peach on my skin tone (I'm also wearing it in these photos). Again, if you like these colors, you won't be disappointed if you decide to buy.Overall, I think the Super Shock Shadows and all of the lip products are winners. Whether or not the palette is a must would depend on what you have in your collection and whether the colors speak to you or not. The quality is in line with Colourpop's other formulas and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the shades, names and packaging.Wearing the Colourpop Disney Designer collection.Wearing the Colourpop Disney Designer collection.
