Behind the scenes at my first photoshoot! | VLOG
As I mentioned in my last post, there's been a lot going on at CVTD Beauty! Last weekend, I had my very first professional photoshoot for CVTD Beauty. It was such an exciting experience and one of the first times I was able to get out of my own head and share my vision.https://youtu.be/EaaIVx1FBbE

While it's incredibly challenging managing nearly everything for CVTD Beauty on my own, it also means I have control over everything, and I like that. That being said, I simply can't do everything. There are some things that I'm really good at, but other things that I really struggle with.I knew that I wanted to create some editorial beauty images showcasing my products for spring/summer. Lots of the makeup that I carry is all-natural and eco-friendly. I think that's amazing, but I know that "green beauty" can come across as very crunchy granola. I wanted to show everyday makeup lovers that they don't have to sacrifice quality when they use healthier / safer products. I also wanted to make green beauty more accessible and inclusive to women of color. So I had my concept but didn't know how to execute it. I decided to reach out to one of my blogger friends Chanel. She's had her fashion blog for about six years now, so I knew she'd be comfortable in front of the camera. Plus she's really pretty, always on time, and easy going.Ok, so I had the model, but then needed to find a photographer. Luckily I scroll through Instagram like my life depends on it, so I discovered A. La'shae. She's super talented and based in Oakland, so I knew I wanted to work with her.Once I secured a model and photographer, I had to come up with the looks. That actually was harder than I thought. I knew that I wanted the makeup looks to highlight the skin. But I didn't want to go too far down the "no makeup makeup" look because, well, the point is to showcase the makeup I sell. I wanted the images to be timely but not too trendy. I was thinking updated classic makeup looks that women could relate to and see themselves wearing in their day to day lives.Eventually I settled on three makeup looks:
clean, dewy skin
matte red lip
bright pink glossy lip
The photoshoot went so much better than I'd hoped and the best part is that I found two women that I'll be able to collaborate with for future projects. I can't wait to share the final images, but in the meantime check out my vlog to get a behind the scenes look at my first CVTD Beauty photoshoot![xyz-ihs snippet="cvtd"]P.S. I have the video showing up top, but in case you're having trouble, here's a link to the video.SaveSave
