If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, I LOVE nude lipsticks. The only problem is that “nude” is different for everyone, so it can actually be really hard to find such a basic lip color. So when I received this package of thirteen Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners plus six lipsticks, I knew I’d be able to find a good nude (yay!).
I really love how creamy these are because they are super comfortable on the lips. The pencils are very smooth and creamy…so creamy that you need to use a light hand. I had more than a couple of the tips break off while I was swatching. But if you just twist up a tiny bit, then breakage shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Here are swatches of the Maybelline Color Sensational Shaping Lip Liners…
First up I have some gorgeous nude shades.
(L to R): Nude Whisper (105), Purely Nude (110), Totally Toffee (115), Rich Chocolate (120) and Magnetic Mauve (125)
(L to R): Dusty Rose (130), Palest Pink (135), Pink Coral (140), Very Cherry (145) and Brick Red (150)
(L to R): Wild Violet (155), Rich Wine (160) and Plum Passion (165)
Since these lip liners are so creamy, they work great alone as matte lippies too.
And there was a bonus clear liner! I’ve always wanted to get a clear lip liner, but then hesitated because I was like, Is that doing too much? (LOL…it’s never doing too much.) Basically a clear liner is like an outline for your lip color and it keeps colors from bleeding. It’s great if you don’t have the right pencil to match your lipstick, but you know you need a little something to make sure your lipstick looks perfect.
And, as promised, here is the combination I discovered to get such a good, everyday nude:
Oh yeah, the lipsticks are pretty damn good too.
I’ve used these lipsticks on and off for years, and they are some of the best drugstore lipsticks. Period. They’re super smooth and pigmented. Plus they come in a ton of different colors. I mean, amongst these 6 shades, there’s light pinky nudes and there’s also navy blue. I mean, navy blue lipstick.
