Burnt Orange Makeup | Fall Feels

Burnt Orange Makeup | Fall Feels

Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale. — Lauren DeStefano

Isn’t that the best fall quote?  I know it’s December and people are in full on Christmas mode, but I’m still savoring fall!

I love this time of year and truly experiencing the summer fade into fall is one of the things I miss most about living in New York.  Sure, it’s nice to have mild weather year round, but sometimes I feel like I’d trade it all just to see the leaves change in Central Park.

In the spirit of fall, I thought I’d do two different looks featuring burnt orange makeup.  This color is just straight up fall to me, but it can look intimidating.  I promise it’s not.  Burnt orange is not as basic as brown but not as loud as red.  It’s like the cooler cousin to red (at least that’s what I tell myself).

For this first look, I used a really pretty matte orange eyeshadow (GNO) and then blended it out with a medium brown/taupe shade (French Kiss).  The rest of my face is pretty neutral because I wanted the eyes to stand out.

Base: Clinique Even Better Glow in Ginger

Cheeks: MAC blush in Format (last seen in this video)

Eyes: ColourPop Yes Please palette (GNO on the lid + French Kiss in the crease) (Swatches and review in this post) // Glossier Boy Brow in Clear // Maybelline Volum’ Express The Mega Plush Mascara

Lips: Urban Decay Vice lipstick in Uptight + MAC lipstick in A Girl’s Got Needs

For this look, I really played up the burnt orange makeup theme.  But instead of using shadow, I just used a liner on my lower lash line.  I don’t do this much, but I think it looks cool.  Definitely gives the look an edgy vibe.  Not that I’m edgy, I’m totally not.  That’s the fun thing about makeup though – you get to play around with different colors and styles and wash it all off at the end of the day.

For my lips, I’m wearing one of my favorite lipsticks ever.  I know that’s a strong statement but this color is so unique, plus the formula is super creamy and moisturizing.

Base: Clinique Even Better Glow in Ginger

Cheeks: MAC blush in Format

Eyes: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Caffeine // Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Torch

Lips: NARS Audacious lipstick in Linda (last seen in this tutorial)
